DISCUSSION QUESTIONS: August 30, 2026
Icebreaker: Talk about a silly time you misjudged someone (i.e. meeting someone whose appearance didn’t match their personality, thinking someone was hostile when they were just trying to talk to you, having a crush on someone who turned out to be a dud, being approached and they turn out to be a solicitor).
Questions to Discuss:
How do we know when it’s okay to judge another person, and when it’s not? Why did Jesus tell us not to judge if he still expected us to discern who the dogs and pigs are?
Share about a time when someone pointed out a “speck" in your eye while they had a “plank" in their own. How did that make you feel, and did it impact your ability to actually remove the speck?
Jesus said “Ask and it will be given to you" in Matthew 7:7. Obviously, we can’t just ask for anything and immediately receive it. So what is he referring to? What can we ask for and expect to receive from God?
How does treating others the way you would like to be treated sum up all of the Law and the Prophets? Does that mean this is the only rule we need to follow?
