Icebreaker: Share a memorable, made-up (unlike the story of Jonah) tale you’ve been told.

 

Questions to Discuss: 

 

Jonah is in the Old Testament, where there are many accounts of God’s wrath against evil nations and cities like Ninevah. How does today’s story change the way we view stories where God doesn’t spare people?

 

Have you ever been so angry with someone that you didn’t want them to repent and be saved? What do you think God would say to that?

 

Greg pointed out that we always believe our anger is righteous, otherwise we wouldn’t be angry. How, then, can we tell when our anger is not actually righteous? On the other hand, does it change how we handle our anger when it is righteous?

 

Is there anything specific in your life that you struggle to believe could be used for your good? If yes, why? If no, share an example of how God proved to you that he could use anything.
